I am continuing to update my Korean Coin Price Guide (avail. at ebay) annually.

Doing research for this last book, I noticed that there were several boxes of documents in the U.S. Mint's File on Foreign Coining Contracts. I may explore some of the work or interactions that the Mint had with Japan, Philippines, etc.

Most coin researchers going to the U.S. Archives are doing work related to U.S. coins, so these foreign contracts (lots of African and South American) seem to be unexplored.

The Foreign Contracts documents are in Record Group 104, Entry 328-F at the Archives.

Each year, the Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG), founded in 1968, hosts its annual awards competition, held in conjunction with the American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money.

This year's event, dating back decades, was held in Oklahoma City and dozens of the top numismatic talent came together to receive honors for their respective entries in the annual competition.

Top honors for the David W. Lange Memorial Book of the Year ended in a rare tie between Korean Coins at the United States Mint by Mark Lovmo and The Publications of Eric P. Newman: A Collector's Guide by Leonard D. Augsburger and Joel J. Orosz. Both books wowed a panel of independent judges, who convened in New Jersey to review all of the contest entries.

There is no argument that the level of competition across all categories has dramatically increased through the years but this year took things to a new level. The judging was close amongst all entrants and even included some behind-closed-door debate.
The winner of the coveted Clemy, the Guild's highest honor, for commitment to numismatics, recognition of writing skill and dedication to the Numismatic Literary Guild, was presented to Ron Guth by the previous year's winner, Jeff Garrett.
