johnny54321 Rest in Peace United States 4849 Posts	Posted 02/06/2012 6:49 pm One thing to note(if you haven't already), is the variety of the 1856 flyer. Usually the main variety to find it's way into a PR slab is the S-9. However, PCGS has recently been calling all 1856 flyers "Proof", even the more valuable traditionally considered business strike S-3. Also, even when they were distinguishing Proof from "Mint State" examples, all TPGs would occassionally call an S-3 a proof. Anyways, an S-3 would be worth quite a bit more in that grade, so it would be worthwhile to investigate if you haven't already. It seems there are quite a few dealers who don't really recognize the difference. Report this Post to the Staff
vermontensium Moderator United States 16684 Posts	Posted 02/06/2012 7:32 pm Well, I did get a chance to hold my dream coin, a 1792 Half Disme NGC MS63...it is the most expensive coin I have had the opportunity to hold and examine close-up. Just for s's & g's, I asked what he was asking. He flips the coin over, momentarily smirks, and told me $375,000. I asked him if he would take a check...LOL!
