I'm CRHing my first Jefferson box in awhile, and I am wondering if there are any doubled dies or varieties that I should to look for. I am not very familiar with such things for Jefferson nickels, so any input would be appreciated. |

A copy of the Red Book will also be helpful as it lists several double dies to look for. I am seriously considering starting a second uncirculated Jefferson collection, the first one was a lot of fun to put together (also all unc). Happy hunting and good luck! |

Please take out all the 1964's. I'm tired of finding them.  They are everywhere, so don't bother with them. I for sure pull everything from 1959 and before, especially if they are in good shape. Have fun. |

There are some varieties and errors, but none that are worth taking the time to search for, IMO. There are a few date-overs, mintmark-overs, and DDOs from the early 40s and 50s, but the odds of finding one in change are negligible. Other than that, there was an error on some 1964's where over-polishing caused PLURIBUS to read as PLURIDUS, but I've never found one, and a typical box will average 50-80 '64s.
Other than that, most nickel searchers keep anything 1938-59, although anything past 1956 isn't worth more than face value, save for the 1958-P. Also keep your eyes on the number of steps on anything made before about 1985--six full steps can increase the value significantly, even if the coin is only AU.

I gave up on dimes a long time ago when I bought a complete silver set and filled all of the clad holes in a few boxes worth and am up to date from 1914 to date (less 1916D and 1921D) I don't do quarters either as other than a few ATB Quarters I am all set from 1914 to date (less 1916 SLQ) I guess I still do halves in hopes of a big windfall but if I strike out on a 1938S by the end of 2014 I'll hit you up.
