No real standard has been set so my point again, why the disparity between arbitrary values of so-called "error" coins? Is there really a true niche within numismatics for mega-dollar "spike heads" or fancy "BIE" die degradation inflated value of what is normal metal machining production outcomes? There is where I differ from the masses with "error coin values" and contend it is only a relatively current fad kept in perpetuity by some for self aggrandizement and profit.
