Why No 'Details' Desig. On PCGS' Genuine MPD-Environmentally Damaged Sl50c?

Is this something commonly done only if requested? llewellin Pillar of the Community United States 1005 Posts	Posted 02/12/2019 2:08 pm I have also had this question - at what point is a coin so bad that it just gets genuine and no approximate details grade? I have a PCGS classic head double eagle that is genuine not gradable for code 98 tooling but it looks BU to my eye. So it would be easy to give a rough grade with details but for some issues they won't do it. Report this Post to the Staff

When PCGS first started slabbing problem coins they only put GENUINE on the label, no details, no details grade just GENUINE. The problem is this is not one of the early Genuine slabs, it is a recent slab. I wonder if it could be a reholder of one of the early Genuine slabs and they just copied the label over from the old label? Report this Post to the Staff
