I have both of these 1942-D Mercury dimes in my new pile. One is pretty obvious but the other is not quite as apparent. they have the nearly exact same double mint marks. But the over date is not as apparent on one. The difference I think is in the wear. I lean towards them both being over dates. Whadya think?

The first one looks good, but I'm not convinced on the second one.

6th and 8th pics are definitely 1942/1, I'm not sure about the others. Great find!

The one with the under-date directly to the south is NOT a 42/41.
The one with the under-date to the southwest could be.
Rest in Peace

They both have the same die crack or scratch NE out of the top right round part of the 9. The one is so dirty it is hard to get good pics. The overdate does round the bottom of the 4 to the west. I have been spritzing it with hot water trying to clean it out but that stuff is stubborn. Can you safely use a steam pen or something to get the grunge out of the inside of the 2?
