This is another coin which was left to me. A 'friendly' coin expert thinks it a possibly a fake. I do not think so. I believe it to be a 'Quatrefoil' type penny.

One side is said to read: CNVTREXANGLO (CNUT REX ANGLO)
The otherside: PINSIGONLVNDE (WYNSIGE ON LONDON)

I would appreciate you comments.

Whether genuine or not I cannot say, but it could be number 781 in English Hammered Coinage. There was a moneyer named Wynsige at London at the time, year 1016 - 1035. Note that at that time, "W" was written "P".

Sadly, I have to say 'fake' - not intended to deceive but a replica. The style is very wrong,, along with the edges. If you would like confirmation, send images to Fitzwilliam Museum. Chris Wren.
