  I have done a bit of research on this coin, being a newcomer to this type of coin I have found it interesting. Being that it looks fairly good and is shiny, I am wondering if it is authentic. I am hoping someone can give me an opinion on the authenticity. The weight of coin is 11.2 grams.

This coins appears to be a tetradrachm from Alexandria, these coins contained more silver than the same type of later years. Could just be the pictures but the coin does look a bit odd. However I believe it's real. Clearer pictures would help though.

 I have been looking for this coin, but no luck yet. I agree it looks like it's from Alexandria, but the weight seems too high for a tetradrachm. I'll keep looking. |

I still can't find anything, but I wanted to correct something I said in an earlier post. The weight on your coin is roughly that of a tetradrachm. And, in fact, seems to be a little on the lighter side. I have been looking at all the sources I know, and cannot find anything like your coin; however, my resources on these coins are quite limited. Echizento indicated your image looks a little odd and I agree, but thast could just be the product of the photograph. I'll keep looking, but my hopes of finding something are dimming.

Both the style and the fabric look odd to me as well. Keep this piece anyway as a reference. I keep all of my sus. coins in a separate area of my collection.
Although I would like to see this coin in hand, from the pictures, it looks like a cast replica, that has been polished.

I tried to enhance your images a bit to see if I can see more details. The surface of the coin is grainy and I wasn't able to see any flow lines which would be a sign that the coin was struck. What does the edge look it? If you can take a picture of the edge it would help. At this point based on the images and not able to locate a match. I can't say if it's real or not.   |

I have a fake roman coin that looks just like this - Its a replica which has been blackened to look realistic. I'm guessign yours doesn't weigh much? The one I have is probably aluminium.
