Nickel Guy Pillar of the Community United States 604 Posts	Posted 12/18/2014 11:25 am I would grade it AU55....at first. However, because of the stains, I would bump it down to AU50. This year is known for two things: 1. Some of the planchets were below standard. 2. There were a number of obverse double dies. I can't tell from the photos, but you may have a double die. You might want to reference the ones listed by Fivaz-Stanton and Fletcher for them. Report this Post to the Staff

I'd consider an acetone bath & distilled rinse. The only issue is if there is corrosion below the material this will make it visible. Without it, you still have the unsightly stains. I'm with Nickel Guy on the technical AU55, but not conversant enough with the issue to discuss Net. Net evaluations ought to encompass rarity and demand; some issues lose far less value than others.
