In my grandfathers jewelry is a "Ten Centavos" "United States of Mexico" 1944 coin. Someone back in the day melted silver, (another coin?) and made a ring and attached it to the back of the coin. Is it worth keeping? (more than 10 centavos) You people are great, thanks for the help..
Though things like this are neat, they're rarely worth much except as a conversation piece. I have seen a lot of different items with Mexican coins from that general time period. I believe I have a dish with some Mexican coins in it. I know ashtrays with Mexican coins in them are pretty common. Some would argue that the coin is ruined because it was mounted in jewelry, but I would personally keep it because it seems kind of neat.
