you should look up ICCS online. they are reasonably priced and the leaders when it comes to grading Canadian stuff as far as I know.

You can probably get a fair idea of the coin's grade by posting an image on this website. If a coin has a catalog price of $50, you can expect to get in the area of $30 for it on ebay. If professional grading costs $15, plus $10 to ship there and back, you will net out $5.00. So, for lower value coins, professional grading is not practical. If you have a $10,000 coin, then PCGS would be a good option. They list their fees at https://www.pcgs.com. |

The picture is much to small to give a grade, but the beautiful 1949 silver dollar needs to be quite a high grade to be worth slabbing. I have one I bought already graded by ICCS years ago that is MS-63 and is a gorgeous looking coin, but really not worth paying to be graded (whoever had it graded was probably hoping for a higher grade).

ICCS or CCCS would be your best bets. Note that CCCS has a website and a database for slab number verification, as well as a submission sheet that can be downloaded and printed. CCCS is more user friendly and in-touch with technology, but ICCS is still the majority.
For a 1949 dollar, you'd probably want a good shot at MS-65 or better to justify the cost. That said, if you haven't submitted coins before, this could be a good opportunity to go through the process of having a coin TP graded. Generally, I wait until I have at least six coins to send to ICCS. As per my last submission, 1-5 coins were $15 each, 6+ dropped the price to $11 each.

 Hi, before you send it of to grading, let a few experienced numismatists look at the coin to see if it's an MS-63 grade or higher. The '49 silver dollar is not worth grading if it's not an MS-63 or higher since it is a very common coin and trend$ for less than $50.00 in lower grades. If it is an MS-63 or higher, send it to> I.C.C.S., they are the T.P.G. coin Gods and once slabbed by them, your coin will always fetch a higher premium when you have to resell it. Glenn Pinto |
