2014 Quarter With Lines Or Scratches Under Letters And Date

AngelaDerby New Member United States 16 Posts	Posted 12/23/2018 09:58 am Hi, Could you tell me what these marks are? I've seen scratches before but never under the lettering. I tried unsuccessfully researching this and couldn't find anything. Probably because I don't know what terminology to use. I hope my pictures are clear enough. AngelaDerby New Member United States 16 Posts	Posted 12/23/2018 10:52 am I searched Coin Wrapping Machine and I saw similar lines but those were on top of the lettering. Mine are beneath. Are you sure that's the cause? If so, why aren't the letters and numbers affected by the machine? Report this Post to the Staff

On most other coins, the letters are higher than the surface, so they will be affected by the machine. Report this Post to the Staff

Not sure what new thing you think you learned. The perimeter devices are incused and a product of the strike.
