1962 BU Nickel Double Date - Coin Community Forum

CPC2013 Valued Member Canada 377 Posts	Posted 04/04/2013 7:22 pm Here is a nice bu double date 1962 nickel with doubling in bothe leafs 5 cents , die problem on left leaf and with CA in canada , double k in KG . beavers face area and some of body doubling , middle a could be mortar set, also D and last a in canada and also water line .Bought this coin from a dealer for 4 dollars . He only noticed the doubling in 1962 .I feel like I stole this coin . Report this Post to the Staff

Colhand1 Pillar of the Community United States 632 Posts	Posted Today 7H 41M ago I received my 1962 Canadian nickel back from ANACS on Friday. They did not give me the double date recognition on the holder. I did get a grade of MS66 ! The coin does have the doubling of the date. I will be going to a show in Denver in early October and show them that PCGS recognizes the variety I was able to get them to change a War Nickel to show No Chrome on the label, so am hopeful, they will give me the double date label To be continued Report this Post to the Staff
cownick Pillar of the Community Canada 684 Posts	Posted Today 5H 15M ago With the coin in hand the tell tail sign is study the dentils on the outside edge. They should look like stacked beads, not to the side but in length. It will be cut in half on hopefully half the coin. looks like a nice doubled die. You can see were the coin shrinks toward the center of the coin from thermal expansion and contraction. Report this Post to the Staff
okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5633 Posts	Posted Today 1H 47M ago Although I only collect 19th century Canadian large cents, that doubling looks to me like machine/mechanical or Die Deterioration Doubling and has nothing to do with the die being doubled.
