Bought this darkly-toned 1923D Peace dollar today for $25. It had a huge wad of crusty dried rubber cement nearly covering the eagle. An acetone soak turned the hard glue back into a mushy mass that came off very easily. Check out that extensive obverse die crack. Anyone recognize the variety?

Bought this 1886 Type-2 Indian Head cent at a coin shop for $4. The condition isn't that great, but I'm pretty happy that I have an IHC in my collection now.

the black could be from rubber bands. I've owned morgans and peace that were wrapped with rubberbands and the rubberbands made a black mark on the coins

..about the rubber bands. Cured rubber contains a lot of sulfur, which reacts readily in contact with silver to create dark stains of silver sulfide. *Never* allow rubber bands to contact your naked coins!

Thanks guys ! I just picked up that Oregon after seeing someone elses on here a month or so ago. I loved it so I had to have one. Got it at a coin show this weekend. First one I've ever been to and it was awesome except for all the bending over and looking. Killed my back.

Raymo - the Oregon is one of my two favorite commemoratives - I had to have one too!

Got this one today - my first Half Cent.
