madhandles761991 Pillar of the Community United States 577 Posts	Posted 12/30/2006 7:09 pm I just got this coin in the mail, and I wanted to show everyone here. It is a 1970 5 centavo piece from Columbia. Other than comments, any guess as to what happened would be appreciated! You can clearly see another 0 I don't know how many times this was 'repunched', but it is at least 3 I guess my real question is: How could this happen? The US at one time punched the date in groups of numbers, but now just hubs the date into the dies. One other thing - date repunching like this is common on Columbian coins. I had a 1966 with bold repunching of a 6. Looked like 19666. Report this Post to the Staff

The question is whether or not the date is on the master die or punched separately. Also, it could be a newbie at their mint. Report this Post to the Staff
