My sub went from backordered expected to ship 4-22 to in stock and reserved this morning. No ping on the cc as of 12N ET. First time on the first day order of any of the previous ATB-P pucks that's happened. Even orders being placed today are listed as in stock, so the Mint must have stamped these out in one huge batch in anticipation of today. Looking forward to the numbers next Monday afternoon.

I bet there is a larger than average first week of sales. Basically a full week plus the discount I think will contribute to a high sales number.

I've got some bad news for those (like me) who have been buying their bullion ATB pucks from provident in the past - they won't be selling the 2014 ones individually but only in monster boxes. They claim that the poor quality in previous years is responsible for their decision. Well, I guess I have to order from APMEX or Moderncoinmart now... |

So how would the quality be any different when they are in a "monster box" than after they are removed?

The only logic I could see is that a monster box buyer is more likely to just be someone stacking silver instead of wanting a high quality example. Or they just want another reseller to deal with the complaints about individual quality since the monster box is sold as is and they have no control over what's inside

Bizy - I'd guess they'll buy them back and resell them. It appears they aren't going to deal with the initial sales. I have to admit I bought a couple from them last year and quit. They were just not very good - no idea why - but their coins almost always seemed to have issues. I bought from MCM and APMEX and had no issues generally - although you get what you get when you buy bullion... |

That's really too bad about PM; I bought 4 of 5 bullion issues from them last year. The White Mtn, Great Basin, and Ft. McHenry were clean, DMPL specimens. The surprise in the group was Mt. Rushmore, the coins were hazy and heavily hairlined on both sides of the coin. The APMEX Mt. Rushmore wasn't much better, so I suspect these year end coins were produced in hasty without the customary care these bullion pucks usually get. Perry's was badly hairlined too, so I guess with all the returns on individual bullion coins, it was just too much for them. The good news is the Mint is back on track with GSM bullion. |

My Rushmore coins are actually all very good. The Perry looked like it had been dragged on the driveway - and the finish was near a satin coin and not the usual mirror like sheen. Since I wasn't overly thrilled with the coin anyway - I didn't bother replacing it. I had the P version which is very clean.

So about what is the difference in cost for the P vs bullion? Also, has anyone received an email from the Mint on the Smokey Mt coin? Just wondering.

angel - the difference depends on the day. I got my bullion coin for around $128 - with the discount on the P - thats about $12 difference.
added... I haven't gotten anything beyond the initial notification that my subscription was getting ready to ship.

Thanks Doug! I guess with that little of a price difference worth it with the P. But all depends on what they're for I guess. I give as gifts. I think they are better than cash. More likely to be kept and will always have a value. Thanks for the info on the order as well.
