I think the mint is in way over there heads with the release and sell out of the Baseball commems and the sellout of the 5oz Smokey Mountains and now the upcoming release of the silver proof set which those late to the game will try to get in on due to the rise in value on the secondary market of the 2012 and 2013 sets and then the 5oz Shenandoah when they have ship date backlogs of over 3 months.

They'll probably come out with the special Kennedy half set soon too just to make things even more of a cluster.

It seems they messed up the start of the year... almost nothing coming out and then bunched everything into the middle of the year. It would have been nice to have the ATB start in February and March and then spread them out - instead of back to back to back... along with all the other products. The planning definitely could be better.

I agree. It seems they wait for one reason or another (our guesses mostly as to reason!)

I am sure their reasoning makes no sense at all why they schedule the products the way they do.....that is why they are called the US Mint. I am still waiting on a product that has an expected ship date of 4/16.....I have no idea when to really expect it.

There were 23,495 sold as of the 27th. I guess a sellout soon.

Quote: 22.841 is the count as per the 20th sold on the USMint site. Now they say May 7, 2014 for the next date avail to ship. Quote: There were 23,495 sold as of the 27th. I guess a sellout soon. That is quite a hitting a brick wall that they sold that many the first week and only sold 650 more the next week for the Smokey Mountain.

Quote: Also in the link below, Shenandoah is being increased to 30,000. Should be interesting if some buyers decide to cancel their subs. Saw that too. Is there speculation that people are going to cancel?

I wonder if the recent subscription discount program didn't take off too well that the mint didn't almost reach their shelf of 25K immediately boxing out the regular collector which caused them to up the limit to 30K for subsequent issues to fulfill the subscription obligation and allow enough for the average collector.

Either way, it seems like the original topic of this thread isn't a possibility for this year's run and I imagine it won't be a threat as long as the price of Ag stays down around or below $20.

jack - the mint knew how many subscriptions they had for this series before they published the 25,000 for the GSM. My guess is they had an increase in subscriptions once the coin was released - hence the increase in mintage. Personally - I think this years coins are also some of the better images in the series as well.
I am on the fence about next years coins based on the preliminary images I have seen. I think they might have a rough time selling 25k of each in 2015.

No reason for me to cancel a subscription, the discount is too good to pass up. I don't like the idea of the increase to 30 K for the pucks. Why can't they leave well enough alone?
