Doucet Pillar of the Community United States 1315 Posts	Posted 04/01/2012 2:26 pm Domitian will be freed from his tomb very soon. All the scratches were on the slab. The coin has good detail. With a little green and blue in the patina. I've decided on the bandsaw technique for the excavation. Any suggestions? .........wish me luck. Report this Post to the Staff

Doucet Pillar of the Community United States 1315 Posts	Posted 04/01/2012 2:42 pm I'm not sure if they cut these slabs to fit the ancients. I laid a US quarter on top to compare it. It is ever so slightly out of round. Report this Post to the Staff
sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21789 Posts	Posted 04/01/2012 5:50 pm This coin looks curiously TOO round to me. When you take it out of it's tomb, have a close look at the edge. Why was it encased? From the pictures I can see no evidence of grading, as if in a slab. Other than it's roundness, looks OK. Perhaps the lettering may have been tooled a bit after it was dug up.
