Yep, I found that among the 1000 Ike bag I just picked up at the bank Wednesday! Definitely a keeper. Plus it is an "s" mint.

Here's a classic counterstamp from the 1850's ....

The host coin is a 1700's Spanish two reale piece. The stamp is strong, but there's some light graffiti. The hotel was then owned by a Col. Richard B. Jones who lived next door at 79 Dock Street. Note that the room rate was then 37 1/2 CENTS a night! The "European Plan" that's noted in the advertisement means that food was not included.

I don't know what this counterstamp means, or what coin it is on for that matter. It has been in my collection for a while but I have not paid much attention to it. All I can read is "pfennig".
