I found this unusual note for sale on ebay today. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...400440996589 Its a German 100,000 Mark from 1923 but it seems to have an advertisement printed on it. It intrigued me because I had never seen any uncatalog overprints outside of those fake nazi ones. Anyone know anything about it and if the overprint is authentic?
It is an advertising note printed in the late 1920s or 1930s on the back of a then worthless German note. There are many varieties out there. You can also find similar advertisements on notes from the Mexican Revolution.
Probably no reason to doubt its authenticity but it would not be difficult to duplicate. They usually go for about $10.00 on the German notes. A little more for the Mexican ones. But I have also found similar notes in junk boxes for a dollar.
