@andrewbi: Good finds. It's always nice to get started on the right foot. As for pennies, I suggest continuing doing what you are doing and when you find a bank that seems to have sympathetic tellers then you should cultivate personal relationships at those branches. 90% of my cool finds comes from a select few branches where I have a good personal rapport with the head teller.

I must be the luckiest *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** alive!!
I go to a branch, ask for pennies for a school project, they laugh and say how much.
I say $50, so they give me $50. I see in the vault their filled with boxes of pennies!
I carry the box that's half my weight by walking 10 minutes home, I open one roll.
Guess what I find?

WHEAT PENNIES!!

I open another roll....

WHEAT PENNIES!!

HALF THE BOX ARE WHEAT PENNIES!!

A LOT OF STEEL PENNIES, A 1919D, AND A COUPLE OF Indian cents!!

THE OTHER HALF ARE ALL MINT BANK WRAPPED ROLLS FROM THE 1960'S AND 1970'S WITH THE YOUNG QUEEN BACK, AND SOME GEORGE VI'S!! IN UNCIRCULATED CONDITION!!

THE OTHER BOX ARE ALL UNCIRCULATED 70'S.

I MUST HAVE NETTED $1000 THAT DAY!

I'LL BE BACK WITH MY DAD AND HIS PICKUP TRUCK!!
I'm GOING TO WITHDRAW MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT IN PENNIES!!

Wow! That is a great score. Enjoy it for what it is worth. You may never be this lucky again. Reminds me of when I found $16.60 in silver dimes out of a total of four rolls.

@soulchief: be patient, your day will come. Never know when. I used to think the same when I heard of other peoples' good fortune. Kept me searching.

Does anyone want to trade wheat pennies? I have holes in my album, and even from the batch that I found was mostly 1910's, and couple of 1909. I am looking for 1920's wheats.

"You must have at least 250 posts and have been a member for at least 90 days to start a trade."

Tried to bring pennies back to the bank but I was only able to dump $4.00 before the coin counter was full. First time that has happened to me.

Searched 24 rolls with best finds being: 1937, 1938, 1952, 2 wheat cents, a 1975 1 cent from Trinidad and Tobago, and a 1992 cent with nice wood graining.

Hi All ! First time poster, long time lurker.

I've decided to try CRH a bunch of Nickel rolls for the fun of it, maybe to find some rare coins/key dates and also stock up on some nickel nickels.

Went to my bank on Friday and got $50 worth of nickels (25 rolls). Just wanted to see how long it would take me to open & sort all of them.

I'm a bit of a Spreadsheet freak and I've been logging all the Nickels I've been getting since early February, but last Friday it was time to step it up a bit.

First off all, I'll use a common term from the boards, I got skunked.

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

The only "highlight" is that I got a total of 1010 coins.
Other then that,

- 2 x 5 Cent Euro
- 3 x 2000P
- 1 x 2001 No-P
- 20 x 1945-2005 V

0 ..... yes, 0 nickel Nickels. In fact nothing Pre-2000 in the box.

Anyways, that's my first experience, I'll be getting another 25 (maybe 50) rolls soon.

Edit: - The 2003 stats are interchanged.

Went through another 10 rolls today.
1 full roll of coppers
4 full rolls of USD
10 wheats, forgot dates
20 young queens
30 uncirculated condition assorted pre 1981 canada, and a uncirculated 1979 1984 1987 US.
And a Dutch 10 Euro Coin.

Hauled another 10 boxes home from various branches, BMO seems to be the only bank that gives them out anymore.

Went to a TD, asked for pre-1968 coins. To my shock, another coin hunter in my area took all of them a couple of dates ago. $6 worth of silver!.
Grrrrrrr
