8 escudos, Argentina, 1813. A very valuable gold coin and the first to be minted by Argentina as an independent state.

In 1994, this design was reused on the bimetallic Argentine peso - with the theme of "First Coins of Argentina". The silver ring has the legends and the brass center is a faithful reproduction of the design.
And a fun fact: this peso has crude letters that closely mimic those of the 8-escudos, but the one I own has neatly done modern letters.
