commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12461 Posts	Posted 03/16/2014 5:18 pm Each of the silver dollars was struck on a planchet comprised of 50% silver and 50% copper; they weigh 23.30 grams and contain 0.375 ounces of silver. At today' silver price, that amounts to about $8.05 in melt value. Because of the high number of these coins struck and still available on the market, they do not carry a large numismatic premium over melt. That said, $20 is a fair price.
