Mainly they just wear down. My 2010-D Kennedy is getting a little bit orangish, but the silver is staying the same color. The copper large cent isn't toning either.

I have to admit I like that monkey coin a lot. It's cool that's it's a circulating piece. Pretty much China released it to banks who let customers pick them up at face value kinda like our State Quarters. It has a huge mintage though of 500,000,000. Though that's less then one for every two Chinese citizens,

I ended up ordering one from China through ebay on a cheap auction. Still several times above its face value. From pictures it looks like my favorite circulating coin of this year. 10 yuan is $1.50.

I doubt I use it as a pocket piece unless it has some sort of distracting flaw in it.

This is how miss Liberty is doing after a week and a half. She lives in my pocket during the day and propped up inside a old wood box during the at night or on top of my desk to encourage toning. One 30 hour period I forgot the coin in that position. There is definitly something going on she's dropped down to AU. You can see the breast starting to dull and her dress on the high points.

She's starting to turn colors but I'm not sure if it's toning or just dirt around the rims. I do handle her a lot and I'm not careful about touching the surfaces and rubbing it a bit. She's picked up some darker spots on the obverse. Not sure if it's carbon spots or just something that stuck to it. I tried gently rubbing it and it won't come off. She isn't as dark as the photos show except around the rims which are doing something.

I like her to be as dark as possible a look kinda like old circulated Walker halves which is the bulk of my collections.

I have a boyfriend coming in the mail. He's kinda ugly but hoping she can help smooth out some of his rough spots. I also pondering when a good time for he to get a sister since my sister decided to have Irish twins almost. I'm carrying the 2015 to eventially pass on to my niece so now I will have another niece or nephew that needs one too.

I did something stupid today. I had a wrapper in my pocket, and as I threw it away I heard a metallic 'clink' sound. I thought nothing of it, but afterwards I thought to check my pocket pieces just to be safe. Unfortunately, one of my 1899 quarters was missing. Naturally I went back for it, and it was new the top of the bin. It's now safely back in my pocket.

No problem.

I wanted to make sure it was the same. It looked the same (comparing old and new photos), but looks can be deceiving.

I also wanted people to read the previous discussions surrounding it.

That ike looks like he's about to cheat on his old girlfriend with a new, younger, sexier lady. Pocket pieces imitating life lol. Do you think he was an ex pocket piece?

I have a discusion thread in the grading forum, I'm not sure the reeding is super worn down. Maybe a slot coin turn pocket piece idk

Grading thread

The first jbuck linked to was before I bought it to see if anyone thought it was tumbled or artificially worn.

The entire coin is slick to the touch including the reeding. Even my low end silver dollars doesn't have smoove feeling reeding like that. You can still see it but can't really feel it.

I also purchased it from a guy that lives in eastern California.

My first Ike dollar pocket piece was stolen too. I had a book bag full of snacks on a trip and didn't want to lose my dollar since I was in shorts with small pockets. I had the dollar in the pocket it with some cheap silver coins I just bought. Someone broke the glass on my suv and grabbed the bag and left everything else. They must have had the munchies :(
