1810 Bust Fake? - Coin Community Forum

n3xtgen New Member Canada 17 Posts	Posted 01/31/2015 3:52 pm I was just cleaning up some of my coin drawers and forgot I had this 1810 bust. Looking at it again I am not sure if its fake or not. Can anyone tell from the images? I remember paying $15 for it ... Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

The style of the date does not look right and the surfaces seem to have pits and/or small lumps of metal. The coin has a wire rim while on genuine examples, the denticles should extend to the edge. TypeCoin971793 Pillar of the Community United States 6370 Posts	Posted 01/31/2015 9:21 pm Definitely a fake. The wire rim gives it away. Here is a picture from AliExpress. Yours is the exact same. Look at the left-side stars (the first and last stars have little/no detail) and the shield lines on the eagle's breast are weird. The wire rim is evident in all of the same places.
