JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Fantastic!

This week ended nicely on Friday. I acquired two boxes of Brinks rolls from one of my "dump" banks where I previously hadn't found much silver in similar boxes. But in the first box I found a Benjamin Franklin half dollar and six coins that contain 40% silver -- plus two proof clad coins.

I didn't expect to find anything interesting in the second one because I could tell that most of the coins were marked by another CRH (who examined them on January 25th). However, I found two 1964 Kennedy half dollars and one more 40% silver coin in it. Too bad the valuable coins were diluted by the large number of clad coins dumped by that fellow.

Still a great day.

Lotsa' silver in the teller's tray today (which earned her a $10 Dunkin' gift card)! When I called that bank yesterday, she told me that earlier this week a customer cashed in $10 worth of half dollars. I saw several silver coins in her tray while I was purchasing them. I found two 1964 Kennedy half dollars and eight 40% silver coins. Most of them were dirty -- but they cleaned up nicely using soap and water and applying some elbow grease.

After I gave the teller my business card, I asked her to call me the next time another customer turns in half dollars.
