1967 Canada sets
or
1944/1945 nickels and JFK Memorial Half dollars in original packaging?

I searched to buy the "Proof like" 1967 set in envelope, where the coins haven't contacted with open air, and bought it, when the silver was high for CDN 45.
I believe, in any format it will be close to bullion value.
But of cause for the sets with the gold $20, all the price wight will be on side of gold coin.
From my "point of view" of beginner, this set deserves good box, so I still in the search for it, keeping in mind some simple alternatives that I aware of.

Silverside, pardon me for chuckling but you just want to sell the customer "a good box" for a 1967 6-coin set? We don't know if they're keepsakes or if they were picked up at a garage sale last week! And you've quoted a value without even looking at the reverse of the set. What if the goose was diving?
John: If the situation is that your Grandmother wants to know what a "Bin of Coin" is worth and you've offered to help her out, then here are a couple of suggestions:
- Spend some time learning about coins, grades. varieties, errors, values, etc. Local libraries often have books on the subject.
- Contact a local coin dealer and inquire if they might be of assistance, or what they might charge for an appraisal.

I paid $35 for mine in UNC condition.

just bought one in a tray like thing UNC for $30 at a coin shop, she also had one in plastic wrap from the mint for same price

Wildflower, right, John started topic about his particular set.
but from the second page we moved to the generic 1967 set.
And what I do with mine - looking for the box for it, that will cost near same like I paid for the set.
R4mn33k and CoinCanuck both paid even less.
And again, it just about some 1967 set in general.
Btw, I wrote about it.
But try to search for Australian 1967 "Swan" dollar.
same attractive design, but priced way higher.

Silveroid, no need to explain, I was just teasing you. I think the discussion on other threads about RCM reps got me into a "selling skills" mode and my imagination took it away, John lugging his bin out the door of the shop with a nice little display box in hand! But speaking of cases....the 1967 Special Edition (Specimen) Set, RCM issued them unencapsuled, unsealed but in a black leather case. The case itself is nice but the clasp to close and open it seems to stick. It's a very odd type of clasp, different than Prestige or Proof sets. To make a long story short I was holding the case vertically while struggling with the clasp, suddenly it burst open and all the coins spilled onto the kitchen floor and rolled everywhere. I was not happy. Needless to say they did not go back into that case. |
