Hi Folks Need some help in identifying 2 commemoratives or coins. The original post was deleted as one url posted to my open photo bucket account. Hopefully it is correct now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The first commemorative appears to be a jeton BANQUE DE FRANCE AN VIII (1800) by Dumarest. The Bank of France was founded in 1800 and this is a commemorative 'jeton de presence' given to directors of the bank when attending board meetings. Are there markings on the edge?
The second is, presumably,to commemorate Gustav Stresemann who was Chancellor of Germany for a brief period in the 1920's. More information on Stresemann can be found at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustav_Stresemann
Yeah, that number is a mystery to me too. I think it is some kind of a marking in a system telling if coin/token is silver/silver plated/gilded/something third. If the symbol (horn of plenty) is the same, then yeah, Paris mint. The same symbol you'll also find on French Euro coins (and most of those minted in Paris mint). :)
