Hey Gothic, I too am chucking back 56 and higher but only the D mints. The Philly issue is still relatively scarce (by comparison) especially here in sunny Cali.
Afcop - great find on the 51 S, it's still a hole I have. I need to search more.
Brad - Those 43's look great! I don't think any mine have that kind of hair detail.

2 boxes for the week 54 pre 60's of which 3 each of 38 and 39 P. I have to look at these a few times as at times I misread them as 88 and 89 / 58 or 59. 3 wars And then suddenly a bull ran across GOOD trying to cover up the 20S plates. I give it a G - The 20 is barely visible 19 is wasted, but 2/3 of the "S' is showing clearly. 2 can be seen under proper lighting and ½ of zero is visible (left side) The box in which the bull was hiding had 20 to 25% of 04 and 05's. These by far the were the 2 best boxes in a while. Peace

silly question again, but is it just me or are (and why) most of the 95's in better shape than most any other year.

Found a 49S and 39D yesterday from the same box. Also does anyone have a link or pic of the 49 D/S? On mine the "upper right top 1/2 to 2/3 side of the S" looks diff and would like to compare it to the error. I am still struggling with posting pics as I do not have a scanner. Thanks Peace

my dad had $14 in rolled nickels he was going to take to the bank. I decided to look through them first, good thing I did, because I pulled a pretty clean 45S out of there.

picked up $100 in nickels, mostly customer wrapped. no wars, but I did pull 30 pre-60's, 1 1990D "no FS", and a beautiful full steps 96D. Filled a hole with a 42D, leaves me with 2 holes left. Also included in the 30 keepers, was another 51S. still on the hunt for the 39D and 50D
Forgot to mention the freaky "gold" 2005D Bison nickel. Looks like someone had fun experimenting with plating possibly. i'll try putting up pics soon...

Here's the pics of the "gold" nickel. last pic is a side-by-side with a regular. It's very similar in color and tone to golden Presidential dollars. Very attractive coloring, i'll put this one away for the fun of it.

Thanks pinenut. Mine is the regular one (no error). Now I have to dig up the 49D's for another lookie look. FWIW, If you look at the pic posted from your link the coin on the pic has the same thing going on with the "S" (49 S). Peace

I am actually picking up 2 boxes of nickels from the bank next Tuesday or Wednesday. $200.00 I hope to find a few nice nickels. I have not done this in a long long time. Maybe it will be my lucky day.

Wheezy, finally got the urge again, eh? You can't stay away!
I've been going through tons of cents lately; taking a little break from nickels. I'll be doing some nickel updates in about a week or so.

Finished up a brinks box. 12 - S mints 1 war - 45P no buffs. 20 - 1938-59 (40, 46, 46D, 48S, 51, 52, 52D(2), 53, 54, 55D(2), 56, 56D, 57, 57D, 58, 58D, 59, 59D)
A beautiful 1971 with lots of luster and 4 visible steps, but a nasty mark across two of them, still better than to one I had in my folder.
An AU/BU 1986 w/full steps, just a couple of bag marks here and there, but again, very pleasing to the eye.
Decent box - first silver in a while.....and finishes a tube (roll) of various years that I'll auction off soon.

Got a box of nickels today after taking a break due to a long dry spell. 20 pre-59's 1 1990D "no FS" 1 1935S Buffalo 1 war, 1945S
Drought over? Maybe. One more box will have to determine that.
