I am jealous of your V nickel finds CND.

I believe Wheezy may have traded Cole for the No FS nickel. I've been through about 50 boxes I believe and only found 1 so far.

Keep us posted on your quest. I'll try to do the same with mine. I still need 3 more nickels to complete my set from circulation but for now I'm relaxing on vacation.

Yes you have found an incredible number of V nickels! Like Meckl9 I've only found one myself as well.
And if the price of silver goes low enough, I may just take you up on that offer CnD!

Well I tried to get a box of nicks at my bank yesterday and they said they only had loose rolls so I took $40 worth home, only three nickels were pre 1960, a 47p, a silver 44p, and a 36 buffalo. I also scored a 87s proof, and some strange laundry token slightly smaller in diameter to a nickel.

I grabbed a few rolls while I was searching for halves. I was hoping to land the elusive '09. Nope! The only pre '60 was a '48 that looked vf until I turned it over to reveal a crusty green reverse!

yes there were to issues of 70s, business strike and also a proof version. I beleive the 70s that CnD lists is a proof though.
Looks like the number of liberty heads might overtake the buffalos soon!

You can tell by looking at the finish on the 70S that it was a proof, plus solid full steps to boot.
