Last night I searched the best box (50 rolls) I've came across so far...
I found 20 pre-60 Jefferson nickels, three of which I needed for my circulation collection.

1939S (needed)
1940
1941
1943P (silver)
1947D
1948 (2)
1948D
1948S (needed)
1949D
1950 (needed)
1954D (2)
1955D
1956D (3)
1958
1958D
1959D

And now the most exciting part...
I found SEVEN Buffalo nickels all in the same box! I had yet to find a single one looking through circulation, but now I have 7 of them! 1919, 1936, and 5 dateless.
Regardless of the dates being worn off on most, I still think this is overall a pretty good find

Did a box of nickels yesterday and had 24 pre-1964. No silver or buffalos though. I did get my first 2009 P though!

I got a nice 1946 S in change yeaterday. That's an unusual date to get lucky with having only getting one nickel within my change.

Gothic Florin,

Way to go on the 2009P! I haven't found a 2009 in circulation yet.

And _22_, a seven Buffalo Box! SUPER! You get a "hot" box like that, and it really makes your adrenaline flow!

Thanks coppernickeldaddy, looks like I am "hot" because my next box was even better!

This box contained SIXTY pre-1960 Jeffersons!

Plus and additional FOUR silver Jeffersons!
1943S
1944P (2)
1944D

And FOUR more buffalos all with clear readable dates!
1919
1925
1935
1935S

That makes for a total of 68 pre-60 nickels all in the same box!! Woohoo!

I think I need to get a Canada nickel folder. I've found about 7 different dates from domestic rolls so far. I'm doing this with Canadian cents also, and I have about 25 diferent dates including a 1926!

If you are getting a lot of Canadian nickels, remember, 1955-1981 are all nickel. With the price of nickel these days they are worth almost 9 cents apiece in metal value so you may want to "accumulate" them.

Great news for both '22' and hockingzig ....... you folks are helping us out by reporting your finds.

For '22' .... your bank must be placed over an old Buffalo nickel burial site or something ...... you have 11 Buffalos in 2 boxes (8000 coins) ..... I have 8 Buffalo in 70,000 coins!

If I were you ..... I'd be buying more boxes.

For hockingzig ..... your overall find rate of 1.41% greatly exceeds mine ..... I am at 80,000 coins (2000 rolls) and finding a pre-1960 at 1.263%.

I appreciate you posting the detailed find statistics ..... keep it up.

For both of you ..... are you having fun yet?

Best

David

Very nice boxes indeed CND, especially with the silver, 6 total with one being the 1943D which is pretty hard to come across... Nice finds!
