To the Family!
I have the advantage of living in a somewhat large city, that has 117 banks in it! Most large banks will sell you a "box" of nickels ($100 face, 50 rolls) whether or not you have an account. Smaller neighborhood banks generally won't. The bank you have an account with should sell them to you even if they are smaller; if they don't it's time for you to do business with a different bank! NEVER get your rolls from the bank that you dump the coins you have looked through at; you don't want what you have already seen coming back to you! I have one branch of one bank that I am fortunate to be very friendly with ("greasing" them with cookies, pies, and donuts every once in awhile doesn't hurt!) that I dump almost all of what I go through with. I have a different bank that I don't have an account with (they just like me I guess) that has a counting machine that I use a couple of times a week, just to give that other bank a break.
To address a few of your other questions, try not to buy from the same bank all the time either, only because they will shut you off if you overdo it. With experience you will find banks that are friendlier; frequent those branches to buy your coin more often.
I don't know how large the area that you live in is, and how many banks that you have access to, but almost all commercial banks order many boxes of rolled coin from an armored service every week. Like I mentioned before, try to weed out the banks that don't want to help, and frequent more the ones that will. Be friendly; bring in "goodies" (cookies, donuts, etc) to the best banks, and you should be able to buy all of the rolls that you desire. I personally go through $25 to $50 in cents, $300 or so in nickels, and $1k to $2k in halves every week, and I manage to find places to buy coin and trade in coin. Good Luck!
