Update on the last $50 we searched. I took a peek back through and we missed a 1978S proof. This would be our first proof find CRH (that we know of). Since it was a 2nd pass, we may have missed others in the past. Also found a 40, 54, and 59D that we didn't catch the first time.
Nice finds. I especially love the proof finds. I am glad you took a second look.

124,000 nickels and I finally found my first low-mintage coin: 1938-D!

I also found 1 2009P, and a 1999-S proof out of the last 2,000 nickels searched, so I'm very satisfied!

Awesome, berto! LOVE finding those pre-40 mintmarked Jeffersons.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Thanks everyone! I checked my spreadsheet and discovered I actually looked through not only 92,000 nickels, but 124,000 nickels before I found my first "nugget"...remarkable.

I found my first George VI Canadian in a roll of Jeffersons tonight. My earliest Canadian nickel so far! Not bad for a 70-year old coin, I think.

I haven't found any Buffaloes in a while, but I did find my second-oldest impaired proof nickel today: 1961.
