I search Canadian rolls. I keep all USA & 1970 & older, also any foreign, also keep the 1990 or 1991 Canadian since its a low mintage (don't have my sheet with me)

Finished a box of nicks:
2 Buffs - dateless and 1937 in VG-F, best looking one I've pulled yet.
No wars.
Pulled two 1939-S's - so filled the hole and have an extra.
Filled my 40D hole.
Total of 30 from 39 to 59.
Two foreign - 1984 Canadian and a 1970 Bahrain.
14 S mints from 68-70

You guys are donig well.....lots of good posts today. I think I might give up the half dollars at 1 bank and start ordering 5 boxes of nickels

First post in a few days..... Nice to see some V nickel finds! It's been awhile for me; I'm overdue for one. It is true that it would be difficult to make any big profit off of searching nickels, but don't forget about the Henning nickels. Very difficult to find (I have found one that is a certain Henning, and one that I am 90% sure of) but some of the dates go for hundreds of dollars. Problem is, there really isn't any guide to attribute the "dies" used to make them, other than the hole in the lower left leg of the "R" in PLURIBUS, and some tiny bumps around the word UNUM. The Dwight Stuckey book tells in detail the story of the counterfeiter and what happened to the coins he struck, but does not say anything about how to attribute them. I have two updates ready to post in the next day or two. Keep on searchin'! Edited by copper nickel daddy

I picked up two boxes Saturday morning and made it through one and a half of them yesterday and Saturday night. A few pretty good pulls. The box I finished had 28 pre-60's plus a dateless buffalo. Key finds from that first box: 1943-S in AU  1950 - Filled a hole (only 2 left!)  2009-P - Extraordinary for Iowa which is D country (also my first 09 nickel)  So frankly can't have much more fun than that one finding a good keeper every couple of rolls. The 2009 came in the first couple rolls so I was optimistic there'd be more...there was not. The second box has been a little slower so far. Will post that take when I get through it...probably not until next weekend. |

Forgot to add. Also found a neat 1980-D die clash, showing monticello on the Obverse and clear bust outline on the reverse. First one of those I've found.

1 box of Nickels. Scored: 1 - Silver War Nickel1 - 1936 Buffalo nickel (F-12 conservative.......maybe Very Fine) 1 - Dateless Buffalo nickelAnd quite a few "Pre-60" Nickels.....but no "hole-fillers" for me ! |

also, is there a comprehensive list of the jefferson varieties? especially those not recognized by the RedBook? items like the 1990D "no FS", etc. I seem to remember hearing something about slight doubling in some of the "westward journey" series, but can't be sure. i'd like to know I'm not tossing away potential keepers before it's too late...of course, I'm on my 30th box or so, but better late than never I guess. thanks. |

Over the weekend I went through a box which was dated 1/16/08 and 11 days b4 this thread started.
As suspected there was no 2008. There were about 10% 2007 P's in un circulated condition. I kept a roll of it after sorting through about a 100 of them. Most of the coins ranged from 1998 to 2007.
Below is what else was inside. Should I go back to this bank to see if they have any other old boxes?
39 1 P
40 2 1P 1S
41 3 2P 1S
42 1 P
47 1 P
48 3 1P 1D 1S
49 1 P
51 1 P
54 5 2 D's 2P's 1S
56 2 both D
58 6 all D's
26 in total.
In another box (diff bank recent box) I found 2 38 and 3 54-S. One of the 54-S looks diff (the MM) than the other 2. Does anyone have the pic of the error 54 s/d?
I am still trying to figure what type of scanner I want to buy and as such no pics from me for a while.
