The mint has put out lots of different quarters to celebrate different events. I am curious what some favorites collectors have. Do members even put these special quarters away. This was my non serious introduction to collecting coins back in 2007, with the release of the Olympic quarters. Those things are everywhere. Each one must be way over 5 million. I rarely found the rcmp quarter, never encountered the provincial ones. I first saw them on ebay. My top quarters are 2015 flag, poppy,2005 Alberta, Sask, 2004 French settlement. Of course I rarely get these in change. The older ones I have 3 each from roll searches. Its strange how only the Olympic quarters are floating around in large numbers. I count myself lucky to get any others. Do others collect the commem quarters. Which ones do you find in change most often. They are a great way to get people to start collecting. Of course the silver 1967 bobcat quarter reigns supreme. My son found 1 in a quarter roll 2 yrs ago. We jumped for joy. It was our first silver find. It wasn't too worn either. Everytime my kid needs junk food money, he tries to sell it to me for $5. I had totally forgot about this gem, until sels comment about silver quarters. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by pocket change 50 01/08/2016 03:37 am

Oh, and BTW I come across full rolls of MS 1999/2000 quarters so they are still out there as well.

It's the 67 for me as well. I bought that PL set back in 1971. It was one of those, saw it, had to have it, bought it situations. (pretty much how I collect to this day)

The 1967 Centennial coins were thrilling for me back then and they still are today.

The recent colour flag looks nice, always wonder why they did not just colourize the whole mintage.

@ Silver Don I am drooling over your bobcat quarter, absolutely stunning. Alas I don't find many of those other quarters. Except for a boat load of Olympic ones, I guess few people collected them. The others have like vanished. I never realized the beautiful details on the 1973 quarter. Its is very detailed and a great specimen of a horse, not always an easy thing to do! I have 20 circulated one bought on ebay. I wonder what percent of the general public keeps the commem coins. They are fun to find. It makes going through change interesting. The commen coins are getting better, especially the color.

I liked the 'brought out of extinction'(?) series; I don't know if many people recall, but these were released in 2012, even though they were dated 2011 - I haven't found too many of them in painted form - and not many more in unpainted form.
But in all honesty, I am becoming more and more cynical of modern coinage - to the point that I may stop collecting current year coins all together (stopping with last year) - and only focus on the older dates that I am missing from my circulation/base collection.
I nearly stopped collecting circulation coins after the 1999 issues ~ and I became that much more cynical with the 2000 issues... I only have the Olympic ones because someone else collected them, and gifted them to a relative, who in turn gave them to me.
I would much prefer if the mint would cease putting out all these stupid commemorative issues - but they seem too focused on creating worthless coinage (eg: steel core coins, and withddrawing the older nickle stuff) that costs a small fraction of the face value to mint, while increasing demand by duping the masses into hoarding all the yearly variants (which are probably supposed to replenish the supply of coins being de-minted)...
