Blue Color On A 1908 50 Mark German Banknote?

Can anyone tell me what is a reason of this partial blue colour on the German banknote, which is described (and usually seen) only in a green color? I have seen similar "discoloration" on some other banknotes, so I know that it not seldom, but I still don't have idea what (and when) happened with it.

Could this perhaps be caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight?

Hi DL20K. Thank you for your reply. Did you have the same experience with the changing colour due to prolonged exposure to sunlight?

I have had a lot experiences with discoloration (as any other collector of stamps and banknotes, and coins, of course)... but, this is a pretty nice shade of blue colour... almost exact as the 20 Mark currency from that period has.

I really don't think that it could be caused by any enviornments...

However, I will be glad to hear is someone has had the same expierence already?
