Does anyone know any places that grade coins in Salt Lake City, Utah? Or does that all involves shipping coins to another state? How do you know who to trust when sending in coins to have them graded?

Talk to Bob Campbell at All About Coins in SLC. Tell him you are new to collecting and are looking for a club to join and reference books on coins. And try not to drool on the display cases on his store, he has some fantastic stuff there.

In the states the big grading companies are NGC and PCGS. I'm sure with a quick online search you could learn how to submit coins to either company. To make this hobby more enjoyable it's always great to learn and develop your own grading skills. I would recommend joing a club taking a course or looking online for tutorials ... I know in the Canadian forums we have a "you versus ICCS (our major grading company)" for certain coins and people give their opinions on grade and why. I think that has been very helpful for me!
