Never Tried Metal Detectoring - A Good Starter Detector?

What is a good relatively inexpensive detector for casual use in sand, dirt, etc? I'd probably only go out once per week. I looked at Garrett and Bounty Hunter on Amazon. Should I buy new or used (eBay, Craigslist, pawn shop)? What is a good budget $150-250? Should I look for units with Accessories included? Thank you in advance! Report this Post to the Staff

moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 08/04/2017 9:56 pm 50% of all metal detectors are not used beyond the first year, and many are retired after only a few uses. Consequently, you can find super barely used detectors for great prices. Try a buy add in local paper or Craig's list. Report this Post to the Staff

Very popular. Don't cheap out on your first purchase, it's why so many become discouraged with metal detecting. When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
