ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4421 Posts	Posted 03/22/2018 12:35 am Here's a similarly placed counterstamp, also on a higher grade FE Cent. One John R. Mackay was listed as a silversmith in the 1848 NY City directory. A John R. Mackay, Jr. served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company I of the 2nd Regiment of the New Haven National Guard. Perhaps, Junior was the son of the silversmith who had maybe moved to New Haven? I've yet to make a positive attribution on this piece. Report this Post to the Staff
