That's a good point, TNG. Also, with a mintage of 10,000 of each design, it can be called a bit of a scarcity. I am unsure, in the end, of what to call these. They are tokens, notgeld and even medals in some ways. They are not large (24mm). Maybe that's why I like them.

I was thinking they were huge for some reason. Any scratches or rubs were greatly exaggerated in the images you post.
I bet they are neat in hand.

Presidential medals, struck by the U.S. Mint have been given to important leaders at historic events from a very long time. Today they are sold to collectors. The Mint issued medals commemorating Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan once again in November 2015.

This one was probably from the first strikes in 1981.
Struck at Philadelphia Mint, the medals are produced in two sizes using blanks made of 90% copper and 10% zinc. The larger 3-inch medals have much higher reliefs and are struck multiple times on hydraulic presses and hand finished. They are six times costlier than the smaller coins.

The obverse feature a portrait of the president with inscriptions
'RONALD REAGAN' and 'PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES'.

The reverse feature the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park with inscriptions
'LET US RENEW OUR FAITH AND OUR HOPE'
and
'WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DREAM HEROIC DREAMS'
from the Reagan's Inaugural Address.
also 'INAUGURATED JANUARY 20, 1981' and 'YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK'.

The smaller medals cost $6.95 each while the larger 3-inch medals cost $39.95 each ordered from the mint.
My third bronze Reagan medal.
I just got this one for $6.50 shipped but no box or papers!
Still the one I got on the previous page http://goccf.com/t/301479&whichpage=29#2682765 is by far the most elusive.

My buddy is a scroll saw artist and did this framed portrait for me, apparently from this photo.
It hangs in my man cave with other treasures on the wall. I guess it's 10x14 and the wood is 1/4 inch thick that he cut out the design.

TNG, I recently picked up the Lincoln Presidential medal, the same in your previous post of 10 medals. Do you know, roughly, what it is worth?

The smaller Lincoln that looks like this? Medallic Art Co.
A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions

About 10 dollars or more, depending on condition. If you got it with the little box and cotton squares it comes in that adds to the value some. I don't have the box for Lincoln but have a neat Capital Plastic holder instead. It used to have a sticker from Disney World as did others on the holder. Perhaps they were sold there too.
There is a colored sheet of paper that also comes with these with info.

TNG, Yes! I do have the cotton and box it came in along with the brochure. It still had the $3.95 sticker on the box from when the last person purchased it. In the same collection, I also bought a centennial medal for the Statue of Liberty. The same as the one in the following ebay link but it was also still in the box with cotton. I highly doubt it is worth anything near what this ebay seller is trying to get. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-CAPITOL...AOSweW5U~47M

My Andrew Jackson and Lincoln both had 90 cent stickers on the plastic holder.
I luckily saved the picture. LOL

TNG I will post some pictures when I get a chance. Just a heads up, I am not a great photographer. Currently, I only have my phone for a camera. I will do what I can.

I was not a huge medal/token collector initially, however, a coworker brought in his grandfather's collection that he was going to sell off and gave me first pick since he knew I collected coins. Awfully nice of him to do so. I let him name his prices and gave him a bit more as I thought it was a little low. Many of the tokens were silver, some .999 some sterling, and he only wanted spot price as that is what the LCS offered him. Silver at spot? Yes, please!

They have been very difficult to photograph , for sure. You are correct that imperfections seem to be highlighted in my pics for some reason and they are much more pleasing in hand.

Looking forward to your contributions, stud722!

This is the last post for this page, which means the next time I see this thread I will not get to scroll past the wonderful Reagan and Lincoln memorabilia. I had not commented on either yet because I just like to look at them. Good stuff, TNG.
