During my brief 3-day visit to Paraguay in 1990, I tried getting some coins for face value from the bank, and the only way I could get a 1-Guarani coin was to exchange a 100-Guarani note for a mint bag of 100. £1 sterling was then worth about 2,000 Guarani! Bolivia to Peru (1 Sol 1965):
