1960-P LMC Double Cut Reverse Issue

Going through these 1960-P UNC and found a couple issues on the reverse.
1) 2 parallel deep cuts running diagonally through the Memorial platform - what was the cause?
2) Look at the "F" in the designer's initials "FG" - the upper arc of the "G" is repeated in the branches of the "F".
Is there a good reference for looking up varieties/errors on Designer Initials?

It is damage but impossible to know what caused it.

That could be a die scratch that just happens to resemble a second G.
