= flat step-like doubling. RPMs will generally have notches on the serifs.

Doesn't matter. A RPM is a RPM. The punch was used for all denominations until 1990. MD is not the same as a RPM.

Machine Doubling. You can tell since it's reduced in size and is shelflike in appearance. Step-like doubling like a staircase.
