I found this penny from my coin jar. I know that pennies pre-1982 are copper. But this penny looks copper on the outside, but judging by the spot in Lincoln's cheek, it looks silverish...

You could weight it,but it looks like a stain of some sort on a copper cent.

Could have been heated with a soldering gun? Just a discoloration. Zinc cents weren't even thought of then.

Looks like a stain. PMD (post minting damage) not an error.
