So my question is on coins with lines through them..stripes woodies..roller..brush..improper alloys..does it matter which way these lines run..are they of any value and how do you tell them apart..here are a few examples
Well out of pire curiousity I know these pics suck but pic 2..the 79s lines are slightly raised..like..wavy is best was to describe..i do agree with roller lines..jus wondering why the 79 is slightly wavy..
And thank you very much for info on this..know that ive seen examples I know what to look for..i dont have a woodie penny all roller lines..are they worthless to keep?i only want the better coins..small stuff takes up way to much in my coin book And I'm trying to weed it out
They show up after the original surface is gone. But they are topical like printing on the surface of the coin. Eventually they wear off the coin and they are no longer seen. On a woody, these are all through the planchet, so coin wear does not remove them. Note on the columns how the lines have worn off the coin on the rolling lines.
