I mostly collect US coins but have a couple of foreign. I wanted to try to come up with a cool foreign set. So I decided I wanted to work on a set of coins with boats on them. So far I have: A Canadian 10c A Bahamas 25c A US 5c Keel boat reverse Looking for help identifying others that would fall in this catagory Thanks |

Boats... the first that come to mind are
Gambia 1 penny 1966
Gambia 5 butus 1971-77
Would that also include ships -- as seen on the East Caribean coins?

Don't forget the British penny and half penny, of both George VI and Elizabeth II. They have a lovely ship on the reverse.
Also Eastern Caribbean State coins have ships on the reverse.
Kuwait coins have a boat.
Some early Liberian ships have a boat.

Korean coins (both North and South) have the "Turtle ship/boat".
Poland 20 zl 1980 "Dar Pomorza" has a boat as well as silver 2 and 5 zl 1936 do.

How much would coins like these run me like I said I really have no experience in foreign coins. I'm looking for XF or so coins.

By no means these is any comprehensive list! There are many more ship-boat coins. The prices here are as follows: The Gambian 1 penny is about $1,5 in AU, Korean 5 won is less than $0.50 in VF, Poland 20 zl 1980 is about $2 in EF, Poland 2 zl 1936 is about $15 in EF while the 5 zl is quite expensive at $60+. The British, Caribbean, Kuwait coins are also common and won't cost you much if you want a type set. Myself, I like boats on coins, a boat set would look very nice  |

OK you may also want a North Korean 1/2 chon (one of the transportation series), Cabo Verde series (1994), East Timor (25 C 1994), Greece 1 drachm (1980s), Macao 5 patacas, Malta coins, Portugal (2.5, 5, 10 escudos)..

Those are intresting because the Reichmark became so invaluable during WWII that people were burning the paper Reichmarks in the street but I bet they didn't increase their coin production I wonder how many coins from that time were made. Anbody have a clue?

Jersey, in the Channel Islands has a 'set' of 6 ships on their £1 coin - historical ships that were all made on the island. You can buy these £1 coins either individually or in sets, circulated or proof - I have seen both on ebay. That might be a point of reference for you if you wanted a complete set. £1 - The Tickler £1 - The Percy Douglas £1 - The Hebe £1 - The Gemini £1 - The Century £1 - The Resolute There are the specific names to look out for. Also in the Channel Islands, Guernsey has Yachts on its 5 pence. The Gibraltar £2 coin commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar - featuring a ship. The Isle of Man 2 pence features a fishing ship - herring has long been an important source of income to the island.
