 Cornwall's Launceston Castle, with roots in the 11th century, is the civic attraction on this 1811 silver shilling token (Dalton 7) issued "to facilitate trade" by a group of local businessmen, including Ching the Chemist of de-worming fame (to Conders collectors). Despite this robust portrayal, the castle has been in ruins and has seen limited use since the 1600's; it is maintained to this day, however, as an English Heritage site and popular tourist attraction.
