Would a pan work well I'll give you a look at the country you would be fossicking in,that's if you were there and see for your self,These mates are part of the four man crew working about two and a half to three kilometers away from the lease and already we were turning up gold at that stage or when these photo's were taken .

I suppose you can use it as a Frisbee (the gold pan) but just make sure you don't hit any trees as we don't want any savage attacks by the fauna.

Hmmm good point about the pan, kinda out of place there lol.
the shovel and detector looks like the best bet.

You have very different woods then we do up here in new york, yours have gold, ours just has rocks.

Shovels won't do the job as just an inch or sometimes a few down the ground is as hard as concrete,we use long handle hand picks that can handle the hard ground and get us down to the gold or if you like the larger the gold the deeper it can be so you see we need something that can handle the job,the pointed end is about a foot long with a spade on the opposite side about 8"inches long and has a handle about 2 feet long so you see quite an awesome implement.
I'll have to post a photo of it to give you an idea what it looks like oh and the way it's carried is over the shoulder or for taller people in there utility belt.

regards Harry

As promised these are photo's of a dry surface gold lease, these photo's are of the lease after all the work has been done and the ground bulldozed flat ready for the rejuvenation of the 50 acre lease, the last photo is the makeshift miners den (Mobil home)under the corrugated roof and campervan center (not sure what you call them in your part of the world)my old red 2X4 next to it(now buried in a land fill).

Non of the gold illustrated in this thread came from this lease or any other, most if not all gold has been detected in the Golden Triangle in Victoria,Tasmanian gold fields,New South Wales gold fields,Queensland gold fields,South Australian/Northern Territory gold fields or the Western Australian gold fields.

I'll keep you posted with more finds soon.

Harry, I would still love to come out one day! Here are a few of my finds from California and the dry washes of Arizona. The flat one at 11 O'clock was my first detector find in Arizona!

G'Day Dave and thanks for posting your finds there fantastic mate,we all remember our first find and how unsure you are until the glint of gold shows through the dirt ,then the elation sets in and it take a little while to compose yourself to carry on looking for more that could be hidden around it.
Ah a fly speck good detecting to pick up one of them too,I have to change down to my 8" sweeper to find anything like that, also love the species at the 6 and 8 positions very nice mate.
Thanks for adding to the thread Dave and just remember if you want to visit the door is always open down under.
regards Harry

Man, Now I am pumped up. I am going to spend the first week at my recently purchased 40 acres in gold country Washington state (Okanogan County). Besides all the old ghost towns and miner camps their are tons of tailing piles the chinese made that are full of smaller pieces they missed (so I've heard). But we'll see. Goin on monday 14th. let ya know how I did when I get back. Awesome thread, Thanks Nuggethill. WOLF
