Coins were commonly stamped with letter punches for no reason at all.

Even though your coin is in bad shape , there are collectors for counter stamp coins .

For identifiable counterstamps yes, but not generally for random letter punches.

A counterstamp that can be tied to a particular person or organization, or is a recognizable symbol (like the Masons, for example) or slogan definitely has a collectible value.
