Latest pick up. We now go back to a time that money had a precious metal value. And while we had silver certificates till the 1960's the Gold Certificates were forced to be surrendered in the 1930's. Luckily a few stayed around. I would have loved to exchange this note for a double eagle.   |

While I was doing the above, I also took a picture of a few notes that I had not taken pictures of. While these are modern, they are what got me back into notes. I picked a $100 pack of $2 and they were all sequential. I only kept 5.  |

My eventual goal is to complete a type set of each note from $1 to $20. I'm almost done with the $1 (missing the 1928 Red Seal), but I am done with the $2.  |

Nice 1928 $20 gold note. I've tried a few times to buy one in the last year or two, but haven't lucked out on the auction.
It's good there is a series like the $2 (small) that can be completed without great expense and you don't feel like you need to upgrade again. Maybe toss in a common star note to round it out?

I only own 1 star note and it's a 1957 series silver certificate. I don't own any others  |

My first large National Bank Note. No reason I picked Cincinnati other than price/condition. For those that have National Notes are they all larger than a standard large note? This one was larger than average and only fit in 1 of the Top Loaders. It was wider by about 3-4MM.   |

Continuing with the gold certificate theme. The $10 GC. I wish they had done the backs in Orange Gold like the Large Size.   |

The change to small size notes was all about standardization and cost efficiency.
